YOUR LIBRARY, ON YOUR DEVICE
Privacy policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Your imported books and reading activity stay in your browser. Here is what the current local reader stores and when it connects to the network.
1. No library uploads
YoolVi Reader does not upload your imported books, backups, notes, highlights, reading progress, or library and in-book searches. These are processed on your device. The current app has no accounts, cloud library, automatic sync, advertising, analytics SDKs, or tracking cookies. It does not send your library to AI services or use it to train models.
2. What is stored on your device
- Library data: imported EPUB, CBZ, and audio files, titles and creators, comic metadata, reading positions and status, bookmarks, highlights, notes, per-comic reading settings, listening positions, timestamp bookmarks, and audio/read-aloud preferences.
- Preferences: theme, text appearance, reading mode, library sorting, filters, playback preferences, and the last audio session.
- Offline files: the app’s code, page assets, and sample cover images are cached so the reader can reopen offline. The Time Machine and Captain Marvel Adventures #18 are downloaded automatically once to start your local library (about 51 MB total). Other sample books download only when you choose to add them. Removing a default book keeps it removed.
The app uses browser storage, including IndexedDB, local storage, and a service-worker cache. This storage supports reading and your chosen preferences; it is not used for advertising or tracking across websites. Library and in-book searches run locally.
3. When network requests happen
EPUB read-aloud uses only speech voices reported as local by your browser. YoolVi Reader does not send book text to a speech service. Recorded audiobook playback and its visualization process downloaded files on this device. Device and browser capabilities determine offline voice availability and background playback.
Loading or updating the app requests files from the server hosting this copy of YoolVi Reader. Adding a sample book requests that specific file from the same host. These requests may reveal your IP address, browser information, request time, and the requested page or sample filename to the hosting provider. They do not include your imported books, annotations, or reading position.
A hosted deployment may keep access or security logs under its hosting configuration and provider policies. This app’s local storage design does not prevent such server logs. When you run the app only on localhost, app and bundled sample requests go to your local server. Hosting log retention and provider details depend on the deployment and are not specified by this local version.
Opening Catalogs displays editorial shelves and automatically requests more recommendations from Internet Archive, Open Library, and Apple Podcasts as shelves approach the viewport. These requests use fixed editorial subjects, never your library contents or reading history. Cover artwork may load from the hosting provider. Curated picks remain available if a provider fails or you are offline. Typing in Catalog Search filters the included samples locally. Pressing Search catalogs sends your entered query to the selected providers (Internet Archive, Open Library, and/or Apple Podcasts). Project Gutenberg results use Internet Archive’s Gutenberg collection. LibriVox audiobook results and selected language filters use Internet Archive’s LibriVox collection. Checking available files requests source metadata; adding a book downloads it directly from its public source to your browser. Providers receive ordinary connection information, including your IP address. No library files, progress, or annotations are sent to them. Catalog searches begin only when submitted. Before showing ebook results, the app checks advertised public EPUB downloads with a small byte-range request and closes the stream. For unavailable editions, it sends the returned title to Internet Archive, first checking its Gutenberg collection, to find a matching downloadable edition. These lookups do not include your local library or reading activity. Clicking a source or license link opens a third-party website, which receives normal web requests and applies its own privacy policy. Reading a saved book does not require visiting those sites. External embedded EPUB content and scripts are blocked by the reader.
Want to read stores catalog title metadata and source links in a separate local IndexedDB database. Saving or removing a title does not download media, change the library, or follow a feed. The list is not used for recommendation requests and is not included in library backups. It can be removed one title at a time or by clearing site storage. Viewing artwork and opening title details can contact the original provider as described above.
Custom OPDS connections, followed podcast feeds, cached episode information, and online listening positions stay in IndexedDB and are included in backups. Opening or refreshing a connection requests its HTTPS feed directly. Entering Podcast feeds can refresh up to three older follows; this does not download audio. Viewing remote artwork contacts its image host. Playing online streams from the publisher, including any publisher redirects, advertising, or tracking endpoints; downloading episodes contacts those same hosts. Those providers receive normal request information and apply their own privacy policies. Offline playback uses only saved audio. Unfollowing removes cached feed information but keeps downloaded episodes.
Dictionary lookup is optional. Choosing Look up sends the selected word to api.dictionaryapi.dev for English definitions, along with ordinary connection information such as your IP address. No surrounding passage, book title, annotations, or reading position is included. Selecting text or opening the controls does not send a lookup. Up to 100 successful definitions stay in memory for the current session; reloading clears them. Dictionary source and license links open third-party websites.
4. Backups and sharing
Export creates a ZIP file on your device containing your books, metadata, progress, annotations, and supported settings. Restore reads a backup on your device. Neither action uploads the archive to YoolVi Reader.
Backups are not encrypted or password-protected by the app. Anyone with access to one may be able to read its contents. If you save a backup in a cloud-synced folder, email it, or share your device, that action is governed by the services and people you choose. Your browser or operating system may also have its own backup features.
5. Your controls and retention
Use Remove book to delete that book and its saved progress and annotations from this browser. Export a backup first if you want to keep them. Delete downloaded backup files separately; removing a book does not erase your original file or exported copies.
To remove all local app data, clear this site’s storage and cached files in your browser settings. This removes the library, preferences, and offline files for that browser profile. Other devices, browser profiles, backups, and any hosting logs are separate.
Local data has no scheduled expiry in the app and remains until you remove it or the browser or device clears it. Private browsing and storage eviction can cause earlier deletion. YoolVi Reader has no server-side copy of your library to retrieve, correct, or delete for you.
6. Security and shared devices
The app relies on your browser’s storage protections and your device’s security. It does not add encryption or a separate password to your local library. Anyone using the same unlocked browser profile may access it. Keep your browser and device updated, protect your device, and store backups securely. No software or storage method can guarantee absolute security.
7. Children and personal information
The current reader does not request names, email addresses, ages, or account profiles from readers of any age. Notes and imported files may contain personal information you choose to store locally. On shared devices, parents and guardians should manage access to the browser profile and its backups. Normal hosting requests described above may still occur.
8. Changes to this policy
Changes will be published on this page with an updated date. If accounts, cloud sync, analytics, or other data-handling features are introduced, their practices must be explained before use. This policy describes the current local reader and does not authorize uploading your existing library.
For rules on using the app and the included editions, see the Terms & conditions.
9. Contact
YoolVi Reader is operated by Fusion Quill, AI. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].
If you email us, the message and any information you choose to include are sent through email services, outside the local reader. Please do not attach books or backups when asking a privacy question. Contacting us does not give us access to your browser’s library.
